What is a fluorine chemical?
- Dec 10, 2018 -

The fluorine chemical industry is a sub-sector of the chemical industry. Due to its wide variety of products, excellent performance and wide application fields, the industry has become an important industry with rapid development. In the longer term, the fluorine chemical industry will also be one of the fastest growing industries in the chemical industry.

The fluorine chemical industry is divided into two major industries: inorganic fluorine chemical and organic fluorine chemical.

The inorganic fluorine chemical industry is an important part of the chemical industry, and its products are important raw materials and auxiliary materials in the machinery, electronics, metallurgy and other industries. In inorganic fluoride, fluoride salt products such as aluminum fluoride and cryolite, which are raw materials for the production of aluminum electrolysis, account for the vast majority of the total production, and other products have less yield.

In terms of production capacity and regional distribution, the world's inorganic fluoride production enterprises are mainly distributed in countries and regions with abundant resources and advanced technology. At present, the world's inorganic fluoride comprehensive production capacity is about 1.5 million tons, of which the comprehensive production capacity of fluoride salt is about 1.2 million tons (about 750,000 tons of aluminum fluoride, about 450,000 tons of cryolite). China, the United States, Russia, Canada, Mexico, Italy and India have been the main producers of inorganic fluoride.

In terms of process technology, it is representative of the former Soviet Union's soda fluoroaluminate process cryolite technology, the company's sodium fluorosilicate method, ammonium fluoroaluminate method, clay salt brine method cryolite technology; Switzerland BUSS company, Germany CHENCO The company, Austrian Linz company's aluminum fluoride production technology; DuPont, the United States DDF company, Japan Daikin's electronic grade fluoride production technology. In terms of future development trends, inorganic fluoride is gradually developing in the direction of refinement, specialization, and scale, and pays more attention to product application research and development. In addition, with the increasing global attention to environmental protection issues, technologies such as the comprehensive utilization of fluorine resources will be further developed.

China's inorganic fluorine chemical industry has a history of more than 50 years. Before the 1980s, the production of inorganic fluoride in China had been using the technology of the former Soviet Union. The production process was simple, the equipment was backward, and the product variety was relatively simple. After the 1980s, China's research and development of inorganic fluoride products has made great progress, especially in recent years, with the increasing research and development efforts, fluoride, electronic grade fluoride and other fluoride varieties continue to increase, The use is also expanding (such as cryolite in glass, grinding and other industries). At present, inorganic fluoride has been widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery, optical instruments, electronics, nuclear industry and medical fields, and has become an important chemical product in the national economy. Among them, the development of fluoride salts is the most significant.
